In order to prepare for the third annual Kells Pink Ribbon Walk for breast cancer, some participants are taking advantage of fundraising events to get in shape, the Meath Chronicle reports.

The 10-mile walk - a fundraising event for an Irish Cancer Society program called Action Breast Cancer - will have people follow a "scenic looped route." And while the exertion of a walk may not be quite as challenging as a jog or a run, some participants are still preparing with the assistance of personal trainers.

Personal trainer Sidney Brito oversaw treadmill use during a recent Pink Fun Day, which raised more than $1,700 (€1,055) for the cause.

Personal Trainer Software from EZFacility offers a trainer and instructor scheduling tool which allows trainers to send out emails or SMS session reminders. There is also a class roster function to let instructors view who has signed up to train.

A cross-country run is also being planned to raise funds. Personal trainer Liam Newman will be setting up training events in the coming weeks to help participants prepare.
